Flu Shot Awareness

By Dr. Kim Harper | October 14, 2019

Typically anticipated to start in the fall months and peak in January or February, the “flu season” is always accompanied by signs in pharmacies and doctors’ offices promoting the vaccine. Your local pharmacy’s automated answering service may start with a recording letting you know that they’re offering the flu shot today – no appointment necessary.…

Camouflaged Sugar

By Dr. Kim Harper | October 8, 2019

When choosing to live the wellness lifestyle, everyone knows that one of the first changes to make is eliminating sugar from your diet. Obviously, this means no pastries, cookies, cake, candy, sugary soft drinks, etc. Everyone knows that these items are high in sugar and need to be avoided. This seems so easy. But what if…

Seasonal Affective Disorder

By Dr. Kim Harper | October 2, 2019

As winter approaches, the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer. For those living near the equator the change isn’t too dramatic but, as you go further north or south, the longer nights are accompanied by cloudy skies. Would it surprise you to know that those long nights and cloudy days can actually affect…

The Power of Breathing

By Dr. Kim Harper | September 18, 2019

We take an average of 12 a minute, 720 per hour and over 17,000 per day. Yes, we take that many breaths and we take them for granted. Rarely do we consider just how important that involuntary process is, or that there are proper and improper breathing techniques that can make a big difference in our health.

Backpack Dilemma

Backpack Dilemma: Function vs Fashion

By Dr. Kim Harper | September 5, 2019

Chiropractors, pediatricians and orthopedic surgeons alike agree that backpacks are a problem for your child’s spine. While alone they may not cause major problems, overloading and improper carrying of a backpack can lead to headaches, neck, shoulder, and lower back pain.

Antibiotic Misuse

By Dr. Kim Harper | August 15, 2019

A recent study by researchers at Seattle Children’s Hospital found that just 27% of respiratory tract infections are actually caused by bacteria. That means that more than 2/3 of all infections are viral, and antibiotics won’t help. The study also found that doctors prescribed antibiotics for children with those infections 57% of the time. This results in about 11 million potentially needless prescriptions of antibiotics being written every year for upper respiratory tract infections alone – and that’s just the beginning.

About 4 years ago I was in so much pain that I couldn't get out of bed. I have a herniated disc and I knew that if I went to the hospital, I would be in surgery. I came to Dr. Harper's office out of desperation. I have been relatively pain-free since being in Dr. Harper's care. We drive an hour to get to her office but it is worth it!

Dr Harper and her ENTIRE team are welcoming, accomodating, and super friendly.  I have never seen Dr Harper without a smile on her face.  They are super close to my house, and can fit me in on last minute requests.  Thank you to the entire staff!
